Charleston Trip

Okay, so I am finally sitting down for this. I was actually very overwhelmed with how much I would have to include in this post considering Charleston has so much to offer! And so, I kept pushing it. But, I decided it was high time for me to stop procrastinating and start this post. I will try to include everything we did and went to and if you have any questions, I would love to answer them!

Charleston is one of those places that has been pretty high on my list of places to visit in the US. I have read and heard so much about its beauty and history that I was very curious to have a look myself. So, we decided that this year we were going to visit and have some good time. And it delivered! It totally delivered!

Let me tell you, when we were pulling into the city, I was not impressed, I only saw normal houses and thought to myself, “this is not why we drove for 12 hours!”. Yes, we drove from Philly to South Carolina and made a fun road trip. Woke up at about 7:30 in the morning, got gas and were on the road by 9:30 am. We also took a lunch break at around 2:00.

Got to our room by 8:00 pm. We were tired and hubby was all drained out from driving the whole day. So, we only went for dinner at Magnolias– a very pretty downtown restaurant in the French Quarters with warm southern vibes. The food there is absolutely delicious and even though we wanted to get their chicken- the appetizers that we got was a lot for us 😀 We just went home and slept like a log.

Day 2:

Day 2 was the most fun we had in Charleston. Having heard so much about the color houses and pretty streets on Rainbow Row, I knew that was going to be the first on my list. Our Uber dropped us off at the corner of White Point Garden, and from there it is like 10 mins walk but it actually took us almost half an hour because we were taking pictures at almost every other house! 😀 But then, how can you not?!

It is a little difficult to get a full shot of the street with so many trees there, but it is really one of the prettiest streets I have seen. I remember loving the streets in Georgetown as well which were a little bit like this! We took a few pictures (actually a lot! :D). On a completely different note- Get the details on my dress right here! Then we headed to our brunch reservation at The Watch Rooftop at The Restoration hotel. We decided to walk through the streets to the restaurant.

It was a good way to explore the city instead of taking uber. But OF MY GOD was it hot! I didn’t realize that until after 10 mins and I got so tired and thirsty. Seriously, I would suggest to never go in summers! We got there in around 40 mins, LOL. Yes, we walked for 40 mins in over 100F degrees 😀

But the restaurant is very pretty and the service is very good and fast as well. I also ate the food in like less than 10 mins which I generally take a good time 😀

Afterwards, we just went back to our room and rested for about an hour or so, hydrated a LOT! We had dinner reservations at another restaurant but I really wanted to see the city from a rooftop and enjoy the evening. So, we instead went to The Rooftop at Vendue  and had a really nice time looking at the city and the weather was lovely and we could also see a storm in the sky which was pretty cool! I would totally recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy a nice evening looking over the city with some good drinks.

Day 3:

This was our last full day in Charleston and we had already decided what we were going to do. So, first up was bike riding. Now I really wanted to ride a bike in the city and explore it that way and since I used to ride bikes as a kid, I figured how difficult will it be?! BUT, I was wrong. Very wrong! I did two rounds in the lot and I knew I couldn’t. I mean, I could- I was just afraid of breaking traffic rules and hitting people :D. So, even though we already had 2-day passes, we decided on NOT doing it, for very obvious reasons, LOL!

Up next was Magnolia plantation and gardens. The weather also started getting bad, probably from yesterday’s stormy clouds we saw. The minute we entered the gardens, it started raining. Thankfully we had our umbrellas, so we decided to go ahead with our plan because this was our last day. And when I tell you that this is absolutely one of the most beautiful and raw nature I have seen, I am not kidding. So many trees, their history and so much of history linked to the place.

We had to leave early since it started getting dark and with the rain, it was getting difficult to walk. So, we headed back to our order and ordered Chinese food 😀

It was certainly a great trip and we had a great time. Only problem- it was way hot! So if you are maybe planning for a visit to Charleston, plan in spring or fall because summers are very hot!

I know this was a long post but I wanted to give you a real idea of what we did and spent our vacation!

See y’all soon! XO <3
