We’re Having a Baby

Well, by now most of you might have already seen our little (okay… BIG) secret on Instagram, but in case you haven’t and somehow missed the title of this post, we are having a baby in summer 2020. Pankaj and I are so excited! I sometimes still cannot believe that I have a baby growing in me! I mean, how crazy is that?! It feels truly surreal and I cannot wait for next year to be here.

How we found out:

I was testing earlier than I was supposed to get my period because I was very anxious and since my husband was travelling at that time, I was hoping for it to be positive so I could surprise him. I was working from home on August 29th and I just felt off and my abdomen was a little bloated and also cramping. So, I took a test and it had the faintest line (picture below). I don’t think you can see anything but I was looking so hard at it and found a very faint shadow. So, I waited a day and took the test again the next day and also took a digital test which came back positive. I was SO HAPPY because hubby was coming back that day and I knew he would believe it only if it was positive on a digital 😀

But, this was not the first positive that I got. I had positive tests in June this year but unfortunately, we lost that baby very early in the pregnancy. I was devastated and felt so hopeless. But I thank god everyday for this little miracle. It was one of the reasons that I was so anxious and eager to test and see if everything was okay. With that pregnancy I had pictures of us and a footage of me showing him the test but this time around I just wanted it to be the two of us together.

We told our families really early on, after I received pregnancy confirmation from the doctor’s office, which was at around 5 weeks. After that we had our first dating scan at 8 weeks in September and that’s when we got to see the little nugget!

We just had our 12-week appointment in the end of October and it was so surreal actually looking at the baby moving and doing somersaults IN MY BELLY! We also got to hear the heartbeat and it was amazing! Actually seeing the baby just made it more real that this is really happening! I am currently 13 weeks and will be sharing about my first trimester soon and how I am feeling now.

I have a feeling- 2020 is going to be the best year! (or the busiest, for sure!! :D)
