Second pregnancy 20 week update

20 weeks bump

20 weeks! Which means, we are halfway through this pregnancy, WHOA! The first trimester, or mostly until week 15 was dragging so slow but once I started feeling better, I feel like it went by SO QUICK! When I was pregnant with Neal, I was doing per trimester updates but I figure not a lot of people would be interested in knowing how nauseous I am LOL, so we are only doing a 20-week bump update. And then I will probably do another update towards the end of this pregnancy.

Bump Update// 20 weeks

  • Due Date– I am due around mid- January 2023. Not particularly comfortable telling the actual date 🙂
  • Baby’s gender– We are having a GIRL!!! I shared it on my instagram a few weeks back and completely forgot to post about it on the blog. #pregnancybrain 😀
  • Cravings– in the first trimester, I was mostly craving spicy Indian food. I was missing all the delicious street food so much that I tried making so many of those just to help with the cravings. Now, the cravings are mostly for ice cream and chocolates and I am definitely obliging to those cravings 😀
  • Aversions– Coffee! I cannot believe that happened. Before I got pregnant in May, coffee was something I was drinking every morning first thing. But as soon as nausea hit at around 5-6 weeks, coffee was the first thing I had to let go of. Even just the smell of that made me nauseous. I am still not completely back on it but I do drink a cup every few days in the afternoon when I feel like I need some caffeine kick.
  • Weight gain/loss– I have gained about 4 lbs until now in this pregnancy. But I know that in the third trimester, that number is going to go up by a lot because I remember the same thing happening in my last pregnancy. With Neal, I gained about 23-25 lbs by the end of that pregnancy so I definitely have a long way to go.
  • Bump showing– Yes! It started showing so early this time around. With Neal, my bump was barely visible at around 20 weeks but this time at 20 weeks, it looks like I am entering 3rd trimester.
  • Symptoms– Tired! I am so fricking tired all day. It’s insane. I don’t know if it’s just because of this pregnancy or maybe it’s because of running after my toddler son all day. At the end of the day, all I want to do is just sit on the couch and eat and relax J
  • Baby movements– Yes, I started feeling the movements very early this time. With Neal, I had an anterior placenta and so I felt the movements a lot later (around 20-21 weeks). But this time, the placenta is posterior and I have been feeling the baby move so much more this time. It is honestly such a sweet feeling to feel the flutters.
  • Baby names– We do have a few names shortlisted but I’ll be sharing once the baby is born. J
  • Maternity clothes– I have been living in loose and flowy dresses. I was wearing leggings initially but anything on my bump just feels very constricting and I didn’t like the feeling of anything on it. So, we are back to dresses.
  • Sleep– okay, sleep has been a big issue for me this time. I get pregnancy rhinitis and it gets very difficult to breathe at night because my nose gets congested and I cannot breathe, like I literally cannot breathe from my nose. Some things that have helped are using the nasal strips and using vicks vaporub right before I sleep. I know I look very chick when I go to bed 😀 Also, keeping the humidifier has been very helpful.
