I rarely leave my house without makeup. I don’t want to sound pretentious, but I’m not lying. There was a time when I had no idea how to do makeup, how to put on foundation nicely, conceal my blemishes. And doing eyeshadows was a nightmare to me. But, I think I am pretty good at it now. I know different techniques to apply foundation, you cannot tell if I have any blemish or scar because I can conceal them. And I do a mean cat-eye! Let’s dive into my go-to makeup favorites now!
Base:
Before I start my makeup, I moisturize my face nicely and put on a good eye cream. Then, after my skin has absorbed all that, I move onto primer. The ones I’m currently using and absolutely loving are Smashbox Photo Finish primer water and Too Faced Hangover primer. I always use the primer water since it makes me feel fresh whenever I use it. Then I use the too faced primer and I love it. First of all, it smells divine! Second of all, it gives a nice canvas to work on along with providing a little moisture. After that I move onto my foundation. Let me tell you one thing- I do not do light coverage foundations. I love how it looks on others, but I cannot pull that off. I need a medium or heavy coverage. The one I’m using at the moment is Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation in the shade 4W1-Honey Bronze. Although I go back-and-forth with the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear foundation as well. I take 2 pumps for my whole face and neck and use a beauty blender to apply it.
Conceal and Highlight:
I don’t normally use both the products but on special occasions, I like using the MAC highlighter pen along with the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer– just to add in a little more of highlight. My shade is Custard in NARS and I use Medium in the MAC highlight pen.
I like how creamy the NARS concealer is, I still am looking for something that is a little more lightweight and is available in my shade.
I would love some suggestions here! 🙂
Powder:
Being oily, I need to set my makeup or it wouldn’t last after 3 hours. I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose setting powder for my under-eyes and the areas that I highlight and the MakeUp ForEver HD Pressed powder for all over the face. Although it seems like they have discontinued the product now! 🙁
I am not a big fan of baking under my eyes since I feel it gets a little dry, but I do it when I am going out for a long period of time.
Cheeks:
For my blush and bronzer, I don’t really deviate much from the products that I know work for me. I really like the Laura Mercier Baked Bronze in shade 03. I have tried a few others and I find that this suits my skin tone the best.
For blush, I keep this palette from Becca Cosmetics around since I have 3 options to choose from and I am fond of all the three colors- depending on the occasion.
I do have a few new additions to my blushes, but these are the ones that I am currently using the most!
For highlighter, I use another Laura Mercier product- Highlight-01. It gives a nice subtle glow and not a shimmer or glittery shine (which I’m not a big fan of!)
Eyes:
I am not someone who can do dramatic eye looks, but I love color and this ABH Modern Renaissance palette is the best, which I have been using this non-stop since the day I got this. I am even hitting pan on a few shades which sucks but also tells you that how much I love this! And I Wouldn’t lie, I actually use the brush that comes with it. It is easy to do a simple eye look with the brush and I use it almost on an everyday basis.
After eyeshadows, I move onto brows, for which I use two products. The NYX Micro Brow Pencil to fill in some bald spots and then Benefit Gimme Brow to set it.
Now, my journey to a perfect eye liner has been a long one! I used to use the Maybelline gel liner a few years back but it dried up way too soon. So, I moved to Stila eyeliner. I had heard a lot of people talk about it and felt like I should try it once. I used it for a few months but didn’t really like the pigmentation. After a few hit-and-miss products, I landed onto this Lancôme Grandiose eyeliner and trust me- this is the best. Such good pigmentation and matte finish. Try it once, you’ll be hooked!
For eyelashes, I just curl them with my Shiseido eye lash curler and put on a million coats of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara.
Lips:
Currently, my favorite natural lip combo is this MAC Soar lip liner with MAC lipstick in Twig. A great natural lip color for my skin tone since a lot of neutral colors wash me out.
Which ones are your favorite go-to makeup products? Are you a light-coverage person or a full-coverage person?
Do you have any product suggestions that I should try? Let me know in the comments!
