Our hospital bag have been packed and ready to go for at least 3 weeks now. I still sometimes repack or add stuff to it and have made some changes with the changing COVID-19 rules and regulations but all in all, I am ready for this baby.
I did a lot of research and read all the resources I could before I made a list myself to pack these essentials (in my opinion). I have included some must haves that everyones tells you to keep and also some nice-to-haves for myself or the baby. Also putting all of baby’s stuff in his diaper bag so it is all in one place and I don’t scramble to look for things after I have just given birth. And then for my stuff, I have put my skincare and makeup (yes, makeup) in separate toiletry bags so my husband can also grab them if he needs to for me.
Mom’s Essentials
- This nightshirt from Nordstrom
- Hospital gown for during the L&D since one of my friends told me that the hospital I am going to deliver at has gown which is like, all open in the back. 🙂
- Robe for after I have given birth so I can be comfortable but still look a bit okay if my husband is taking any pictures
- Nursing tank– almost everyone recommended to pack one.
- Nursing bra- I am packing this and this since not sure what will work better
- Towel- because everyone says that hospital ones are very thin
- Phone charging cord– I got a 10ft iPhone charging cord from Amazon so I don’t have to worry about it.
- Pillow- to keep my head propped up and be as much comfortable as I can be at that time
- Toiletries- everyday skincare and makeup, hairbrush and hairties, toothbrush, toothpaste, deo, face wash, shampoo and conditioner (just in case), contacts and lens solution, cotton pads, hand cream, chapstick (because I have heard that with all the contractions and pushing, your lips get really dry)
- Water bottle- duh!
- Shower flip flops
- Non-skid socks
- Birthing Ball- I love it for my lower back pain and people say it helps in labor as well
- iPad with some shows downloaded so I have something to watch in case it goes on for longer
- Nipple cream– I got this lansinoh nipple cream in the strating of 3rd trimester when I started getting dry and itchy nipples (TMI!) so I am just going to keep using this
- Adult Disposable underwear- not cute VERY important!
- Prenatals
- Camera and memory card with extra charged battery
- Oil diffuser and essential oil- Now, I know this is not an essential, but diffusing essential oils in the later part of my pregnancy has really helped calm me and my senses and relax me better.
- Hair straightener- just in case we take pictures with the baby and I have some time to look put together.
- Comfy clothes to go home in.
Baby’s Essentials
- Carseat, obviously 🙂
- Going home outfit- I have packed 2, one in newborn size and other in 0-3 months size
- Baby Blanket– we got this from Aden & Anais
- Socks and mittens
- Swaddle
- Diapers
- Pacifiers
- Baby shusher– with the current situation of COVID-19, our hospital is going to put the baby in our room for the night in the hospital, so I think we might need this for the baby, HAHA!
Dad’s Essentials
- Toiletries- Facewash, moisturizer, toothbrush and toothpaste (that is all he needs! 😀 )
- Snacks- we are packing some protein bars and apple juice since our hospital is not allowing the support person to leave the ward once they’re inside.
- Change of clothes
- Headphones
- Powerbank
Also, we are taking an extra tote bag with us since we have been told that they give you some items for the baby and your postpartum care.
