Our family is growing!!!

at home pregnancy announcement idea

Guys, I still cannot believe that I am sharing this news with you all! We are expecting our second baby!!! I always knew I wanted 2 kids, so having another was just a matter of when. When Neal turned 18 months, we figured it was a good time for another, since that way, there won’t be a lot of age difference between the 2 kids, but Neal would still be a bit more mature than he was then. But, these things don’t always happen on your timeline and it took us a bit longer than the first time.

With Neal, it was my second pregnancy as my first one ended in a miscarriage in June of 2019. And soon after that, I got pregnant with Neal in August 2019, on our first try! With this baby, we conceived in the 6th month and to be honest, I was kind of starting to lose hope. I am in my 30s, much closer to 35 than 30. And that made me stressed that there might be some issue. Thankfully, there wasn’t and it was just a bit longer for us this time.

HOW I FOUND OUT:

Since, we were trying, I was testing every month (obviously!). Initially, I would be excited and then get a little sad seeing the negative. But, after 2-3 months, I decided not to stress about it (which is very hard, TURST ME!) and only test after at least 9 DPO. 9 DPO because that is when I got a positive with Neal.

On May 1st, I was 9 DPO and so I decided to do a test, just for the fun of it. I had no symptom, what-so-ever. And I was pretty sure it wasn’t going to be positive. So, I took the test and went out in the bedroom to scroll through my phone and wait out the 3 minutes. Honestly, I was just so shocked to see the result that it was a positive! I immediately took a digital test, which came out negative. So, I held out for a few days before telling my husband.

I got a digital positive on 11 DPO in the morning and that is when I told my husband 🙂

I am currently 12 weeks and due in January. I still hasn’t sunk in yet that I am growing another baby. I had my initial prenatal appointment in May end and 2nd appointment in June end. Both the times, I got to see the baby and it has grown so much. The ultrasound in June was so much more fun since the baby was active and I got to see the tiny little hand!!

I have my 12-week anatomy scan next week and I am SO EXCITED to see the baby on a bigger screen!

I will be sharing more about how I have been doing in the first trimester and how the 2 pregnancies have been different so far in a separate post.

I am so excited for this pregnancy and to see Neal become a big brother! 🙂
